El Hospitalilló at Tarancón & the AABI Jarama weekend remembering the Commune de Paris Battalion at Jarama, 20th and 21st February, 2026.
Thanks as always to Mike Arnott from the IBMT and Máximo Molina Gutiérrez of ARMHA Cuenca for organising everything at Tarancón as every year. And apologies for being late as we spent more time than we realised at Madrigueras and then to Albacete Bull ring with Richard Beadles' grandchildren (and where Mike and I photographed Allan Craig Jnr. quite a few years ago after first visiting Tarancón! I am very happy and grateful to witness this now annual event. Next year will be important being the 90th anniversary and with a replacement plaque for the British Battalion dead to be unveiled).
Chincón in 1937 and last Saturday with Richard Beadles’ grandchildren. He would have likely been here in February 1937 before the Battle of Jarama.
Sadly, when we visited the recently rebuilt British Battalion Memorial at Jarama (and close to where Richard died on 23/2/37), the panel had been pinched! Hopefully a replacement panel can be put up on the 90th anniversary next year. I plan to attend. And hopefully Richard's grandchildren, too!

But at least we got to return to visit El Hospitalillo again! One day, a Museum on the Republican Medical Services? Fingers crossed!
